There are five (5) standing committees that operate under the auspices of the Virginia Movers and Warehousemen Association (VMWA) guidelines. 

Legislative Committee 

This committee is charged with the responsibility of keeping the leadership and the members current on all of the upcoming changes and events in the various legislative bodies. State laws, Local laws, and Federal laws are watched for changes and adjustments. Trends in regulation changes and any actions that would affect the membership are reported to the Officers and Board of Directors. 

Membership Committee 

This committee is charged with keeping the membership roll current and having all members in good standing. Any new application for membership will be screened by this committee and reported to the Officers and Board of Directors for approval. 

Convention Committee 

This committee is charged with organizing and setting up an agenda for each year’s convention needs. Normally, the committee is always working on a two (2) year cycle on convention places and times. 

Tariff Committee 

This committee is charged with maintaining the current tariff that is used by the Regular membership for pricing their services. Any changes to the current tariff are first examined by this committee and reported to the Officers and Board of Directors for approval. This committee will from time to time conduct cost studies to confirm cost increases, trends in insurance, and other important considerations that affect the status of cost and rates that are incorporated in the tariff pricing formulas. 

Nominating Committee 

The Nominating Committee will file a report each year to the Secretary at least 45 days prior to the Annual Meeting a list of nominations for the various offices that need to be filled. The Secretary shall make public the list at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting. 

Special Committees 

The President of VMWA may appoint special committees to undertake detail interests in particular areas of need.
